“Hooked on Seafood” published today in Fresh magazine!

1 Jul

I absolutely love developing recipes and writing articles – it’s a wonderful creative outlet. My latest article was just published. If you shop at Hannaford market (they’re in New England and parts of New York), you can pick up a copy of their magazine, fresh, in the store. The article, which can also be seen online, is called “Hooked on Seafood“. The theme of the issue is summer food festivals and there are a lot of great articles featuring the foods of summer!

When I pitched my article ideas to the editor, I sent probably ten ideas on all different food festivals in New England. It’s funny that the one that was chosen was the festival I grew up going to (and eventually working at) every summer – the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. I worked on the beach every summer at Stats restaurant cooking pizzas, fried dough and scooping ice cream. And every September I came back to help out at the Seafood Festival booth – it was a blast. I had a lot of fun working with the Statires family throughout my teenage and college years and learned so much from them about what goes into owning a business and how hard you have to work to be successful.

If you can make it to Hampton Beach September 10-12, be sure to stop by Stats (get a bowl of their award-winning apple crisp) and check out all the other booths at the festival.
