We arrived back home tonight after a fun-filled weekend. Yesterday Jason and I were very productive. We hit balls at The Longest Drive driving range, swam at the beach, got some ice cream at DQ and helped make a fantastic dinner before watching fireworks in Harwichport.
This is me at the driving range yesterday afternoon. It was really hot out but I did okay.
Dinner last night was amazing. In true Shameapalooza fashion, we cooked a really great meal for everyone back at the house. The seafood all came from George’s Fish Market. On our menu were: boiled lobsters, grilled swordfish, tuna, scallops and shrimp, corn on the cob with a chili-lime sauce, tequila-lime chicken, potato salad, mango-peach salsa, a cilantro remoulade sauce for the seafood, Greek Salad, and a fruit salad. I’ll post recipes for these items on my recipe page this week. The beer had run out by last night, so we made some special libations to go with our meal – homemade banana daiquiri and watermelon mojitos! Both were delicious and gone pretty quickly.
Later in the evening, we watched fireworks from the beach – they were set off literally 50 feet in front of us. I had never seen fireworks that close up – the whole beach was lit up. It was amazing!
This morning we wanted to get a head start on the ride home, but before we did, we hit up The Egg and I in Hyannis for breakfast. They have a breakfast buffet for $10 but we opted for the a la carte menu. I had 2 eggs sunny side up with hash browns, toast, and a cup of fruit salad. Jason had corned beef hash with an english muffin and hash browns.
Unfortunately the drive home today took a really long time. Getting off the Cape after a holiday is never fun, and today seemed to be ten times worse. We picked up our dog, Rick, on the way home and then stopped at Home Depot to purchase a much-needed air conditioner. It was touch and go for a bit tonight as we didn’t think the AC would fit in our wall, but Jason saved the day and got it in!
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are keeping cool tonight!
